A male and female Banded Garden Spider, living side by side in the at a rest stop in Washington off highway 26 (a.k.a. the middle of nowhere). 9-22-09 way too early in the morning.

house spider/grass spider/funnel weaver spider
these speedy little harmless but useful flycatchers are everywhere around here. but so is its larger, uglier, and more poisonous cousin the hobo spider.
